Garden in July

As the garden continues to transition through July, it is exciting to see new blooms emerging. The weater was mostly dry with an occasional downpour.

Mid-July
Wild bergamot (purple) – Monarda fistulosa
Joe Pye Weed- Eupatorium dubium

I decided to expand the garden a foot or so in order to move the law back away from the plants. Also plan to add a few plants to the edge by the Winterberry.

Also expansion of the area around the Spicebush plants. At this point, the sod was just turned over and will then be covered with mulch. Not sure yet what will be added to this space, but need to let the the clumps meld back together.

  1. Hello – is there a specific Monarda fistulosa that you grow? I could only find Monarda fistulosa ‘Claire Grace’ so I planted that. It’s growing by leaps and bounds and seems to attract pollinators but I’m wondering if there is a true native Monarda I should try? Thanks!
